Find a hero and submit your local hero-introduction This section gives you the chance to add your own hero to the database by clicking on the ‘submit your local hero’ tab opposite and filling in a simple web form. The information will then be attached to the interactive map and available for others to use. Before you start... Every area has someone it is proud of for his or her achievements. We have produced video and other interactive materials on heroes relating to the East of England (see tabs above to Boudica, Cromwell, Hereward and Nelson). Local heroes interactive map 
Click on Local heroes interactive map on the menu (top left) to bring up the above map.
- Hover over the LH (Local Heroes) icons for a brief sketch of his/her life in the box on the right
- Click on a LH (Local Heroes) icon to link to the webpages or files submitted for that person
- Use the + and - signs to zoom in and out of the map
- Move to left and right with the arrow keys
Create your own local hero webpage 
Create your own webpage about your localhero like this by simply filling in a form. Look at the page carefully and you will see that there are a number of headings. These are the things you need to put in with word limits with tips in brackets
- Headline (make this snazzy)
- County (....shire, if in a big town it could be your borough)
- Postcode or map reference (should be where the person was born or with important link to the person)
- Name of Hero
- Date Born (should be before 1954, at least 50 years ago)
- Date Died
- Activity/Career (Max 50 words) (should be a brief sketch of main points of life)
- Hero's link to the locality (Max 100 words) (Born there, worked there, built something there)
- Life and times (Max 200 words) (Some key points about life at the time in the area concerned ie rural poverty, way of life of soldiers etc)
- Why he/she should be considered a hero (Max 100 words) (in area or nationally)
- Name of person submitting hero (your name)
- School (please give name of town, village etc too)
- Contact email
- Photograph/image (these should be in jpg or gif format and preferably trimmed down to about 200 pixels square
- Description (this will say image of, map of, scan of document etc and will be shown on the page created)
- Attachment (another image or piece of video relating to the person-interview with expert etc)
- Copyright (We cannot be responsible for images etc which you have taken from the web. If you do use something from the web please email the site owner and ask permission first.
